Name Submission Winners Announced
Chatham-Kent Community Helps Shape the Future of One Hundred King: “King Square” to be Honored with Special Recognition
Chatham-Kent, ON — Last year, the Chatham-Kent community was invited to take part in a naming contest for the new Downtown Chatham space, and we were thrilled by the overwhelming response from our residents. Your creative and thoughtful name submissions played a key role in shaping this exciting development, and we sincerely thank everyone who participated.
In the Fall of 2024, we announced that the new space will be officially named One Hundred King, a title that we believe best encapsulates the spirit and purpose of the space. However, as promised, we wanted to recognize and pay tribute to the other great name ideas we received from the community.
We are excited to announce the winners of the contest, Sheri N. and Joey K., both of whom submitted the name “King Square,” and will be honored for their contributions. We felt that the name “King Square” pairs beautifully with One Hundred King and perfectly complements the vision for this revitalized space.
In recognition of their winning submission, Sheri and Joey each received $2,500.00 in gift certificates to local downtown businesses. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the businesses that participated and generously donated the gift certificates, helping to make this grand prize possible. The team behind One Hundred King is proud to have the support of such an engaged and passionate community as we move forward with this project. We are truly grateful for the enthusiasm and collaboration from the people of Chatham-Kent and beyond as we work to bring this vision to life.
In other exciting news, we are pleased to announce that we have successfully received all necessary permits for the building's construction plans. With the arrival of warmer weather, we will soon begin the restoration of the mall. In the meantime, work on the parking garage and other improvements to the surrounding areas will continue.
We remain committed to creating a space that reflects the needs and aspirations of the community, and we can’t wait to see One Hundred King take shape.
